Heron Cove Bed and Breakfast at Silverstream Plantation is a Victorian style home on seven and one half acres in a private enclave surrounded by a forest of mature magnolias, palms and oaks. The B&B is adjacent to a marsh in which water birds and tides are in constant motion. Rumor has it, that an alligator or two frequent the brackish marsh, but they stay well out of sight. The woodland is alive with the sounds and activities of birds and wildlife. From time to time, one will see a Great Blue Heron or its cousin, the Great White Egret, fishing in the stream that runs through the property.
The home was the vision of Savannah, Ga-born coastal artist, Lili London, who envisioned it as a place for artists to relax and paint. Sadly, Lili enjoyed this retreat for only a few years before her untimely passing. Proprietors Ginny and Steve have expanded Lili’s vision to offer Heron Cove B&B to anyone who appreciates nurturing and beautiful surroundings. The B&B name springs from the Great Blue Heron that alighted on the foundation during construction.
“I travel every week for work and out of all the B&B’s that I have stayed at this is by far THE BEST. I can’t tell you how much i recommend you choose Blue Heron for any occasion!”
Upon your arrival, you are greeted by a front porch with comfy wicker chairs. Enter into the 2-1/2 story foyer, graced by an 1820’s wood-burning stove (retired), beveled glass French doors and a custom art-glass transom depicting herons, designed by Lili and a Tybee Island glass artist. Inviting you beyond the foyer is the great room, with two comfortable couches, a marble and granite gas fireplace, four glass doors opening upon the rear porch, and a TV for your enjoyment. From the great room you pass into a gourmet kitchen adjoining a large breakfast area with floor to ceiling windows allowing a panoramic view of the property and the marsh. A full breakfast is served, and you can enjoy your breakfast in the kitchen area with its cathedral ceiling, or for those guests wishing a more formal breakfast experience, a formal dining room is available. Casual breakfast dining is also available on the large screened rear porch where you can also enjoy a late afternoon or early evening snack and wine. The rear porch with its huge wood-burning fireplace is a great place to relax in the afternoon or to gather in the evenings for wine and stories or to simply watch the colors of the western sky as the sun sets. Upstairs, Heron Cove features three guest bedrooms, each with its unique view and en suite bathroom.
